The Coronavirus has forced many of us to change our lifestyles. We are forced to work from home, we travel less and we cancel events that would have been held in public. Businesses have started to think about the implications and how they can prepare for these circumstances. Let us look at the impact the Coronavirus has had on businesses and how you can stay safe and healthy during this period.
This is an unprecedented time for the global economy and for a lot of people. Recently we have seen all sort of shocking headlines about businesses closing down and workers being laid off by the day. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has accelerated this to speeds which have not been seen before.
This has meant that many businesses are struggling to get sales in, and therefore are struggling to stay open. We have entered what we will probably all agree to be a difficult time for our economy, and will probably struggle to get back to even 1% growth by the middle of the year.
Of course, things are getting better. The lockdown is still in place but we are seeing more businesses offering discounts, opening their doors, etc. We are obviously hoping for things to get better. However, the main issue we are facing right now is not what is happening with COVID-19, but what to do with it.
We are all simply trying to get through this as best we can and to stay healthy and happy. This means saving money, being mindful of our spending, planning ahead as well as cutting back on what we can.
What are the main takeaways
There are a lot of things which we can do to improve our health during this pandemic. The main takeaway is that being healthy isn’t difficult and that we can all bring a little bit of health into our lives everyday.
How can you stay healthy?
Stay home
A lot of us have jobs which need us to work from home and this has become even more necessary during the pandemic. Stay at home if you can as this will ensure that you will be staying healthy. Transporting people to and from places can cause a lot of stress and put a lot of people at risk. Not only does this cause stress for the person but also for the people traveling with them. People traveling can sometimes become infected before the persons they are traveling in the bus or train.
If you have no choice but to travel then wear protective gear to be as prepared as possible. Use hand sanitizers etc., and disinfect surfaces you touch before touching your face and hands. Use separate utensils and water bottles to avoid getting the virus from another person.
Work less
Unless you’re one of the lucky few who don’t have to work, chances are you may need to work less. However, the work you do need to do can be done from the comfort of your home. Work from home as much as possible.
Plan carefully
As businesses become more and more hesitant about going to public places, they may have to cancel or reschedule a lot of their plans. Plan for everything. When you confirm a date for an event, double check that no cancellations are made and that the venue is available.
Have deadlines set and stick to them. This is especially important if your business relies on sales related to a specific event.
Cancel all your events
Cancel as many events as you can to prevent people from traveling to events. Make sure that your customers are aware.
Stay healthy
This goes without saying. Most of the advice given in the past was only good for adults. Now the advice is better for everyone. Take your medication, wash your hands often, stay home when you can, avoid shaking hands, make sure everyone in your family is practicing good hygiene and stay healthy.
Eat healthy
If you are looking to improve your health, eat healthily. Start taking your meals with a salad. There are so many ways to eat healthy, whether it’s making a healthy salad, buying fruit and veg, making a meal from scratch, etc.
Leading an active lifestyle
Leading an active lifestyle plays a very significant role when it comes to our physical health. If you are more active, you are more likely to remain healthy. It doesn’t matter whether you are a runner, a basketball player, a gym junkie, etc. Just find something you like and come up with a plan to do more of it.
Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep
Sometimes it’s hard enough to get a decent night’s sleep, but during the pandemic, we have to be more vigilant about getting quality sleep. The more you sleep the better you will feel.
Drink water
Drink water. If you are thirsty, you are dehydrated. A large part of our body is made up of water. If we don’t drink enough water, we will experience a whole host of negative consequences. Studies have suggested that drinking as little as eight cups of water a day can help cut the risk of a major heart attack by 30%.
Stay happy
Sometimes we think we need a vacation to be happy. However, staying happy can sometimes be as simple as having your eyes open and looking out the window. Try to do something that you enjoy every day.
Smell the roses
Smell the roses. If you slow down and take time to appreciate the things around you, you will be more energized.
Stay social
Whether it’s with family, friends or colleagues, make sure you continue being social. The more people that we can remind ourselves of that we are still there, the healthier and more grounded we will remain.
Creative Process
The most important takeaway for me personally is creativity. I am able to be creative every day, even if it is writing a blog article. I find it difficult to be creative when it comes to my actual work. No matter how hard I try, my mind seems to go blank. There have been times where I haven’t even been able to complete an article.
However, I love writing blog articles. Even if they are long, they give me a chance to get creative. It doesn’t matter about the quality or the length. It doesn’t matter if I don’t have all of the facts and figures, for example when it comes to writing a blog post on SEO, as long as I have it researched in my mind I can make it up as I go.
It is about relaxing and enjoying the process, rather than expecting or wanting a plan.
Final Thoughts
These are just a few examples. There are many important things to think about during the Coronavirus. It is important to protect yourself and your family and be well prepared during this time.
